When is the Best Time to Move in Dubai and how to Avoid Peak Season Costs

There is no single answer to this question, because the busiest time for Dubai is the peak tourist season from November to March, and it is popular with tourists because the temperature is lower so the climate is more pleasant. Just the sort of conditions you need when you’re moving house, in fact. Nobody wants to be heaving boxes and suitcases around when the weather is sweltering. A nice warm day is what you need, but then the airport is packed, the streets and malls are busy, the hotels are expensive, and you might not get a table at the restaurant you fancy because lots of people know and like it too.

If you wait until the off-peak months of June to August, you’ll have more elbow room but the air you’re breathing outside will be hot. It won’t be hot in your new house, of course, because you will have the air con going full blast.

So, what to do? Do you pay the higher air fares and hotel bills for the few days you will need for the move to happen, or do you disregard the discomfort of extreme heat and get it done while saving a few dollars?

If You’re Moving Internally, do it between November and March

If you already live in Dubai, the air fares don’t apply and if you get the move co-ordinated well you won’t need a hotel room. So, get organised in advance, get packed up yourself or have the moving firm do it for you, and with a bit of luck it can all be over in a day. You know how it is with a new house: you’ll be settling in and tweaking things for a few days, but the move itself will be history.

Coming From Abroad? Go June to August

Again, it all comes down to good organisation, and if you can do this, the hot weather shouldn’t bother you too much. After all, you are choosing to move to a hot country. This may well be the most uncomfortable you get for the entire time you live there, and it will be something you can laugh at in future, telling tales of your baptism of fire as you first moved in.

Once you’re in your villa or apartment, you’ll be as cool as you want to be, and the hotels can charge what they like; it won’t affect you.

Planning Your Move to Dubai From Another Country

Assuming you have found your new home and it’s all yours to move into, get your removal arrangements confirmed nice and early. If you’re shipping all your furniture and household items from abroad, you may need storage in Dubai for a few days or weeks. Choose a storage facility with air conditioning and good security, run by a company that will execute your move themselves. Then all you have to do is get to your home and wait for the stuff to arrive.

Timing is crucial, so make sure all concerned are on the same page: your place is yours on the correct day and the moving firm has confirmed the date, then you can sweep in from the airport to the house to watch all your worldly goods being delivered.
